Summer Success Youth Camp Coming to Campus

Montana Tech’s Institute for Educational Opportunities is proud to announce a new Summer Success Youth Camp with Tracy Napier from In the Trenches Consulting. This summer program is designed to help students from 6th through 12th grade reach higher levels of personal and academic potential, by learning and using cognitive behavioral theory principles to change the way we perceive and process information, circumstances, and situations; resulting in more positive productive beliefs and behaviors. This course is effective and beneficial for people of all ages, but this summer, it is being customized for the youth of our community, in order to allow them to spend a couple precious days together to build relationships with one another, learning how their minds work, how it affects their choices, behaviors, and how they can use that information to be successful in whatever area of interest they pursue.

“Montana Tech’s Institute for Educational Opportunities supports our local youth in making positive decisions and how they view their future graduating high school, college, or career. The camps main focus is to encourage students with positive decision making, and inform them of the local community support that is available to help them realize their dreams. This summer camp is a great stepping stone to help youth understand their potential and realize their dreams,” stated Kehli Hazlett, Institute for Educational Opportunities Program Coordinator.

The camp will have guest speakers such as Butte’s own Keith Sayers, FMX Professional Rider, who is an amazing example of positive decision making and how his passion for motor cross riding turned into a successful career. “We are very excited that Keith is taking the time to meet with our youth and show them what positive decision making can do,” according to Tracy Napier. Along with Keith Sayers, other sponsors of the camp include Butte Cares, Lone Peak Physical Therapy, Brooks Hanna Ford, Lisac’s Tire Shop, and Welker Chiropractic.

The camp will run from Monday, July 21, 2014 through Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Montana Tech Student Union Building for students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Cost of attendance to the camp is $60 for one student and $100 for two students who are siblings.
