I want to change my password from a campus computer:

To change your password –

  1. Logon to a campus computer with your current credentials.
  2. Once you are logged on press CTRL+ALT+DEL on the keyboard.
  3. Select Change a password…
    • CTRL-ALT-DEL Menu
  4. Type in your old password, new password, and confirm new password.

Password Reset Tool


To use Montana Tech's Self Password Reset, you first need to enroll in the system. After you enroll, you can use the Password Reset tool to reset or change your password. If you forget your password, you can go through "Reset Password," which will ask your personal security questions. If you know your password and would like to change it, you can do so through "Change Password."



How do I enroll in password reset?


You need to know your current username and password to Enroll. If you need to look up your current username and password you can do so by visiting https://www.mtech.edu/pw

  1. Start by going to http://www.mtech.edu/cts/password-reset/
  2. Select "Enroll"
    • Click 'Enroll'
  3. Type in your current username and password and click "Next"
    • Input username and password
  4. Select your personal security questions and type in your answers then click "Next"
    • Choose security questions
  5. You will receive a message that your account is enrolled, click "Finish"
    • Final enrollment page


I need to reset my password:


Before resetting your password, you need to go through the Enrollment process for the Password Reset tool. See "How to Enroll" for more details.


If you forget your password, you can go through "Reset Password," which will ask your personal security questions.


  1. Start by going to http://www.mtech.edu/cts/password-reset/
  2. Select "Reset Password"
    • Click 'Reset Password'
  3. Type in your Montana Tech username ie: jwilson
  4. Click the check box “I’m not a robot” click "Next"
    • Type username and check box
  5. Answer your personal security questions and click "Next"
  6. Type in your new password and confirm your new password, click "Next"
    • Type and confirm new password
  7. You will receive a message that your password has been reset, click "Finish"
    • Final reset page


I want to change my password:

If you know your password and would like to change it, you can do so through "Change Password."


  1. Start by going to http://www.mtech.edu/cts/password-reset/
  2. Select "Change Password"
    • Click change password
  3. Type in your Montana Tech username, your current password (old password), new password, and confirm new password. Check the box “I’m not a robot” and click "Next"
    • Answer security questions
  4. You will receive a confirmation that your password has been changed
