Department of Safety, Health and Industrial Hygiene

MISSION:

Montana Technological University’s Safety, Health and Industrial Hygiene Department empowers students through transformative, science-based learning to become competent leaders in safety and health.

There are three degree programs within the Safety, Health and Industrial Hygiene Department; a bachelor of science degree in Occupational Safety and Health, a master of science degree in Industrial Hygiene, and a master of science degree in Industrial Hygiene Distance Learning/Professional Track (online). New graduates of all of our programs fulfill an ever-increasing demand for occupational safety and industrial hygiene specialists within industries ranging from alternative energy to insurance. Many of our more seasoned alumni from the programs are fulfilling safety and industrial hygiene leadership roles in rewarding careers throughout the Northwest region as well as nationally.

Montana Tech recently constructed a state-of-the art Safety Lab which allows for an abundance of experiential learning exercises within the curriculums. The quality of our programs is recognized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals as Qualified Academic Programs. Additionally, all of our programs are accredited by the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission of ABET, and all are supported by a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Training Project Grant.
