Highlands College Admissions
About 90% of Montana Tech and Highlands College undergraduate students receive scholarships or grants. In other words, our financial aid team works hard to help our students graduate with the lowest debt loads of any school in Montana.
Highlands College students are welcome, but not required, to live in the residence halls on Montana Tech's main campus. There are three residence halls to choose from, each with distinct character.
We accept applications beginning the summer before your senior year. Not there yet? We can still answer your questions, and help you prepare to apply.
Must be a United States citizen and provide proof of High School Graduation or High School Equivalency Exam.
- Submit your completed Application for Admission.
- Request to have your official ACT or SAT scores sent to Montana Tech.
- Test scores are optional for an admission decision. However, depending on your Highlands program, they may be used to determine course placement and eligibility for some scholarships, so they are recommended.
- Scores must be sent directly from the testing company using Montana Tech’s school code; ACT (2418) and SAT (4487).
- Send proof of high school graduation or equivalent.
- Transcripts should come directly from your high school and must include your graduation date, final GPA, and an official signature.
- If you completed a High School Equivalency Exam, official scores must be sent to Admissions when you apply.
- Request to have any college-level credit sent to Montana Tech
- Dual Enrollment credits must be submitted with an official transcript from the administering college or university.
- Advanced Placement (AP) scores must be sent directly from College Board.
- International Baccalaureate (IB) scores must be submitted with an official IB transcript.
- Submit your completed Application for Admission.
- Send us all past and current unofficial transcripts. These will be used to make an admissions decision and develop a preliminary transcript evaluation. Email to: admissions@mtech.edu.
- Request to have your official transcripts sent to Montana Tech. A transcript will be considered official only if:
- All final grades are posted, i.e. no “in progress” courses; and
- It is emailed directly to Montana Tech from the transferring institution via a secure transcript delivery service; or
- It is stamped with the institution’s official seal and delivered to Montana Tech in a sealed envelope.
- A placement exam may be required if you have not completed a college-level math or writing class within the last two years.
- High school transcripts and ACT/SAT scores are required if you graduated from high school within the past three years and are transferring with fewer than 30 college credits.

If you don't have your PURL address, just visit http://iam.mtech.edu/ and type your email address into the email field. The system will then redirect you to your PURL. Make sure to bookmark it and remember your password!
Transcripts are only considered 'official' when all grades and a graduation date have been posted, and the document is sent to Montana Tech via a secure delivery service like Parchment or Scoir, an email from a counselor, or mailed in a signed, sealed envelope. An official transcript cannot be sent until after your high school graduation.
Please send to:
