Metallography Lab Equipment
Cutting
Cutting and sectioning of metals, ceramics, and polymers can be done on our various rotary saws and surface grinder. Cutting and sectioning tools include an Allied Powercut 10, Techcut 4, and Turnpro surface grinder.
Mounting
Mounting of specimens for SEM, grinding and polishing, or other analysis is routine. We can do cold mounting in epoxy or hot mounting using our LECO MX400 mounting press.
Grinding/Polishing
Most samples require some level of grinding or polishing for SEM-based techniques or metallographic analysis. Samples are typically prepared using our Buehler AutoMet 250 Pro automatic rotary polisher and Buehler VibroMet 2 Vibratory polisher. Surface grinding is also available.
